Vital Partnership
A Vital Partnership is the fourth and highest level of partnership in the Vitality Index, reached when the customer treats the provider as essential to its own success rather than as an interchangeable vendor. Vital is a measurable condition, and it shows up in specific evidence: relationships at the executive level, clear differentiation from the alternatives, collaboration on the customer's priorities, and a customer who advocates for the partnership.
Why it matters
A Vital Partnership is the destination of strategic account work. Accounts at this depth tend to renew without going to bid, expand into new business units, and hold through personnel changes on either side, because the partnership rests on more than any single relationship or contract.
